The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate says President Bola Tinubu’s administration is taking significant steps to strengthen Nigeria’s healthcare system by increasing financial support for healthcare providers, approving a more than 90% increase in capitation fees and a 378% rise in fee-for-service payments. The Coordinating Minister says this critical adjustment is aimed at easing the financial burden on healthcare providers nationwide, ensuring they have the necessary resources and tools to deliver the highest quality of care to Nigerians enrolled in the national health insurance scheme. Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate further emphasized that by adjusting fees to reflect the actual cost of care, the administration is not only supporting healthcare providers but also ensuring that Nigerians receive better medical services, even as he urged Nigerians to take advantage of available health insurance options, including private plans, while encouraging employers to enroll their staff in comprehensive and affordable health insurance coverage that is now accessible.
