  • Dr. Yakubu Adole Agada-Amade is a public health physician and health economist. He holds a medical degree from the University of Calabar, a diploma in public health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, a master’s degree in health planning and management from the University of Maiduguri and a Master of Science degree in public health from the University of London, as well as a certificate from the Harvard School of Public Health on improving the quality of healthcare. He also holds a doctorate (PhD) in health economics from the University of Nigeria with a thesis in health technology assessment (HTA).  He has worked with the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) for over 2 decades, leading and serving in numerous teams in the development and implementation of agency policies and interventions. These policies, guidelines and interventions include the NHIA Standard Treatment Guidelines and Referral Protocols, the 2012 edition of the NHIS Operational Guidelines, the 2023 edition of the NHIA Operational Guidelines, the NHIA Clinical Coding Initiative, the NHIA Health Technology Assessment Initiative (NHTAI), and the NHIA Medicine Supply Initiative (NMSI). In his capacity as the Director of the Standards and Quality Assurance Department, he oversees strategic purchasing for the organization, including healthcare quality.  In addition to having a great reputation for problem-solving and increasing client happiness, Dr. Agada-Amade has expertise working in collaborative settings. He is a member of the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua), the African Health Economics and Policy Association (AfHEA), the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with the Project Management Institute (PMI).
